Save the Newquay-Perranporth Saints Trails!

The Issue

The Newquay-Perranporth multi-use Saints Trails section would have connected Newquay, Trewerry, Newlyn East, Shepherds, Goonhavern and Perranporth predominately along the route of the former Newquay-Chacewater branch line, providing a vital environmentally friendly leisure route which would have delivered significant economic benefit to the mid Cornwall area.

Today (4th Feb 2022), it was confirmed that only the Perranporth-Goonhavern section will be completed by 2023 with the remaining section into Newquay indefinitely postponed.

We call upon Councillor Philip Desmonde (Portfolio Holder for Transport) and Cornwall Council to provide a commitment that the route will be completed in full to a firm timetable.
