An angry post from a resident in North Cornwall on Facebook.

(STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF CORNWALL NOW site )

Surfers Against Sewage and their relationship with SWW.

I’m sorry but this is a long-winded post and not for those of you who have the T-shirt and cannot see past all the plastic.

We all know this world is run by crooks and spivs, but when they infiltrate a grass roots environmental group that is supposed to hold the water companies to account for polluting our precious coastal waters, then that really pisses me off.

I will first start with miss Vicky Garner.

Miss Garner started as Campaign manager of Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), assisting the CEO. She then was given the position of CEO of SAS.
In this time period she was married to a well healed chap, but knew Matthew Taylor MP.
Taylor was considered “an eligible bachelor” and often posed with attractive ladies for photo opportunities.
Garner’s humiliated husband went to the newspapers to spill the beans on hers and Taylor’s affair. They both denied it, but they soon had their first child.
She then worked as chair of a SW bathing liaison group. Then, the pair set up Taylor and Garner.

Their largest client was South West Water!! (think about for a moment…. SAS…)

Miss Garner is now the boss of Garner Tonic Ltd. her job is overseeing the stakeholder and public engagement for the master planning of Langarth Garden Village!! (at Threemilestone)

You may have heard of the Stadium for Cornwall. Well this was a “bribe” to convince the gullible (and a lot of rugby clubs) to accept The Langarth “Project”! But this project will push the dilapidated sewerage system to catastrophe, and will make the crumbling works at Hayle, Porthleven and Padstow look like a showcase for sewage treatment!

This project is basically a minimum 4,000-cardboard houses (for the expensive upcountry landlord market) that will gridlock our only main hospital, at Treliske.

There is currently no sewerage connection for Langarth... The nearest is at Threemilestone industrial Estate, and that appears to be at capacity, being a 9 inch glazed pipe laid in 1972 to the Newham STW (via the Threemilestone village sewer which was laid earlier when it was a small village three miles outside Truro).

The proposed stop gap for Langarth is to have holding tanks, with the raw sewage transported away by lorry to be injected in farmland… The longer term alternative would involve a lengthy trunk sewer down the Kenwyn Valley to Coosebean, where it would link into the already overloaded Truro system to Newham STW. This is already overloaded and often pollutes the tidal waters of the River Fal, affecting shellfish culture...
The other alternative could be a complete new STW in the Kenwyn Valley itself!

But it’s all good, as it’s called a garden Village!

Now a little on Matthew Taylor (former LibDem MP), aka Lord Taylor of Goss Moor.

Matthew was elected as MP for Truro & St. Austell at the young impressionable age of 24. After the LibDems were hammered, he was given the title Barron Taylor of Goss Moor.

He has been a developer of cardboard estates that none of the folk in the area want or need, and for which the sewerage infrastructure cannot cope. But he names them “Eco town” and gullible folk buy into it.

Since 2010 he has been a Non executive Director of South West Water!

What I’m trying to say is they are both social climbers and their track record appears more about money and power, than about protecting our environment; and this is why Surfers Against Sewage has become a plastic group which does not respond to any questions as to why they no longer exert pressure on ANY water companies.

In fact, they are affiliated to SWW, and guess where they get their water tested?
You have probably already guessed, South West Water!!

South West Water’s parent group is Pennon. Pennon generate 85% of their income from the massive bills we pay them; they are in the FTSE 250.

The CEO, Christopher Loughlin’s, previous job was as CEO of British Nuclear Fuels. He received a million pound (£1m) payoff, then took his post at Pennon; he is also a director of Mears building developers.

He additionally holds positions as a director in another 8 water companies. And another 7 large corporate businesses.

Basically, Christopher Loughlin has his fingers in an awful lot of pies!

Now maybe the penny will drop!

Surfers Against Sewage is just a plastic bandwagon.

Comments relating to this story on Facebook:

“I agree with every word. Cornwall is being run by corruption & fraudsters wherever you look. Have a look at SWW's website & posts. All you see is complaints, and they told me when I asked, that they are one of the most efficient water companies!! I dread to think what the other ones are like...!? When I asked about sewage, they totally ignored my question & gave the standard corporate bullshit reply. They don't seem to like straight, honest questions & I've been hearing this rubbish for 30 years now, ever since we set up SAS in the 80's. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME! Enough is enough. I have evidence of sewage spills in St. Agnes & will be gathering more. It won't take me long, & I will be looking for an opportunity to use it. If we don't ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING, then nothing will get done. Enough pollution. Enough excuses. Time to act, people! Think about what it’s going to be like when we get invaded next week, heavy rain showers forecast...”

“SWW also told me "We have no arrangement with SAS"! It's on their website! But be quick 'cos they delete the comments they don't like...”

“What a tangled web they weave when first they venture to deceive”

“Panorama dropped it when Grenfell happened. I was in touch with the Producer she even came to visit. No one wants to talk shit ..... I DO!
Swim/surf at your peril.”

“Have known about their personal connection for a good number of years. I can remember when Matthew Taylor first stood for David Penhaligon’s seat (after David died in the car crash), my father said: “They are big shoes for a young man to fill”, but we voted for him, as we had supported David previously (a true Cornishman). Now I don’t think Mr Taylor would be fit to wipe those shoes. He sold the Cornish men and women out under the guise of representing them.”

“So, what needs to be done? Are you saying there is mass corruption happening? I'm interested in bringing this to the attention of the media. Anyone here to help?”

“Just one example, a seized up "non-return" valve leaking into the stream at Quay road, St.Agnes. Running at this rate for approx. 24-48hrs for half a mile down over Trevaunance Cove. 11/6/20. (Note the outlet is conveniently concealed by seasonal growth). The adjacent SWW building shows no sign of maintenance unless the road is blocked due to emergency pumping tankers during heavy rain. THIS HAS TO STOP.”

“With every new development down here over the last couple of years, there have been concerns raised regarding the sheer amount of housing being foisted on us by Cornwall Council and the Planning Dept and their local sub-planning committees, who overrule any objections raised by residents and the town councillors; there just has to be some shady stuff going on. Bodmin is creaking at the seams, 5,000 houses planned, the town’s dead, no new infrastructure, or jobs; the town council are powerless to challenge the planning decisions; the MP has tried his best to challenge all of this but still it bloody well carries on. Halgavor Moor and Westheath, which is currently farmland are on the town’s Boundary Edge, open countryside, and not in the Local Plan... But still, after hundreds of objections, the East Sub-planning Committee decided to allow outline planning.. Wain Homes has bought up nearly all the land around the town... HOW HAVE THEY BEEN ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH THIS?”

“There is something truly distasteful about social climbing on the back of a worthy cause. Hypocrites all. I totally agree; how can all the local voices be disregarded. This is not democracy. Reducing the numbers of houses to be built is a fib off. Halgavor moor. cannot be allowed to go ahead.”
