People requiring treatment are being urged to seek care from the right place
How ironic that on the very day hundeds of concerned Cornish folk lay siege to Cornwall Council, Cornwall's main hospital at Treliske has now virtually stopped taking in emergency and other patients and declared itself in utter crisis.
We have told Councillor, Westminster politicians and many others that this would happen and now it has.
Uncontrolled house-building and mass tourism, and guess what happens?
You were told!
Full statement from Treliske:
Statement from Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust
“As a result of extreme pressure on all health and care services, members of the public are asked to avoid coming to the main Emergency Department in Truro and are urged to choose alternative services wherever possible.
“Emergency teams are working hard at the Royal Cornwall Hospital to keep patients safe and to make sure patients’ treatment gets underway while they are waiting to be admitted to wards.
“Cornwall Council is taking urgent steps to make sure that people who are currently in hospital but no longer need medical care are able to be safely discharged.
“We are asking the public for their help by choosing alternative services wherever possible. NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day. NHS 111 is aware of the current pressures in Cornwall and is able to provide advice on treatment options and direct you to appropriate local services.
“Some routine outpatient appointments have been cancelled this afternoon. Affected patients are being contacted personally, so there is no need to call the hospital. Urgent cancer clinics, paediatrics and renal dialysis are not affected. Any appointments that are postponed will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
“We apologise for any inconvenience while we concentrate on caring for the high number of emergency patients needing admission.”

“And this is all 'BEFORE' silly season starts. God help us all...”

But for Councillor Dulcie Tudor (Threemilestone) and some of her fellow councillors, it's business as usual; another 60,000 houses anyone?? Yeah, let's put a new town just a mile away from Treliske Hospital, with no sewerage provision, so all those queuing at A&E can get a nice smell from the sewage trucks waiting at the traffic lights, on their way to Newham treatment works... Oh, and also slowly passing Richard Lander and Treliske schools, Highertown, Malabar and the new Arch Hill estate; lovely.
