Several have heard Cornwall Councillor Dulcie Tudor (Lib Dem) (dulcie.tudor@cornwallcouncillors.org.uk ) describe the peaceful and dignified protestors outside Cornwall Council today as being 'the sinister underbelly of Cornish nationalism' during a BBC Radio Cornwall programme.
They have widely circulated this on social media.
This ill-briefed and quite frankly offensive individual perhaps didn't realise that there were several members of her own political party stood outside in protest at the out-of-control over development of Cornwall and that those members are now considering their future with the Lib Dems.
Further, a large percentage of those outside were not even Cornish but had moved to live here from elsewhere.
One gentleman, who was from Nottingham, and who now lived in Cubert and who was a member of the Lib Dems taking part in the peaceful protest, was shocked at Cllr Tudor's words whilst remarking that Cornwall had always done poorly at the hands of the Tudors!
Like an increasing number of others, he was campaigning against unsustainable over development in and about his village and had moved to Cornwall to escape the very same thing in Nottingham!
We must never be astonished at this sort of ignorance and Cllr Dulcie Tudor is to be condemned for her ongoing bigotry and racism.
Others added:
"I hope the statement about her goes viral because the peoples of Kernow need to read what the Tudor thinks of the 'nationalists.' "
"Just goes to show what being part of the 'system' does to a person..."
When quizzed by one campaigner about her outburst on radio, Councillor Dulcie Tudor was short, sharp and some might say poisonous:

"Sinister underbelly"?
I take that as a great insult to protesters at Lys Kernow today.
The majority of people there were innocuous, concerned locals who have become so incensed by what is happening to their local area and Cornwall as a whole that they felt their councillors were not listening, and therefore took their concerns to the place where their 'representatives' were 'working'. Why not listen for a change?
I am so glad you do not represent me, if that is what you think of us.

Thanks Vivien,
I am also glad that you do not live in my Division.
Cllr. Dulcie Tudor.
Campaign group KMTU reported on the peaceful protest too:
PROTEST HITS CORNWALL COUNCIL! (TUESDAY 9th JULY, 2019)
WATCHED BY TV CAMERA CREWS, ASTONISHED SENIOR COUNCILLORS SPEAK WITH PROTESTORS
On the day that a full Council Meeting occurs, hundreds of peaceful but angry protestors arrived at the Truro 'Kremlin Kernow' HQ of Cornwall Council to protest at the appalling way upcountry developers are altering Cornwall, its landscape, heritage, public services and indigenous makeup.
Groups of protestors gathered outside the 'glass palace' both by the main entrance doors and out on the expanse of grass and Councillors and bureaucrats alike stared out at the gathering crowds.
Ingeniously, campaigners arrived in shifts, so as some left having completed their 'tour of duty' others arrived to take their place bearing in mind the glaring sunshine and high temperatures.
Security Guards were in place to meet the protestors but soon faded away.
Several television cameras including those of ITV news and radio presenters were present to interview protestors.
Some sympathetic councillors dressed in their suits ready for the full meeting of Cornwall Council engaged with protestors attempting to fact find.
Passing motorists travelling along the busy Treyew Road sounded their horns in support and there were cries of 'Kernow bys vyken' shouted out. (Cornwall Forever)
Many people who had moved from elsewhere to make Cornwall their home also joined in as even they can now see the atrocious way planning and development is being handled in Cornwall. There is huge unhappiness at the way local decisions made at town and parish level are being over ruled by distant government decisions and calls for more planning powers to be brought to the Duchy.
One of the organisers informed that protests will continue and other legal and peaceful protest tactics employed to resist the overdevelopment of Cornwall despite the fact that lawyers appointed by the Council had threatened some of the campaigners with legal action. The brave response to those threats was 'bring it on'!
Protests commenced at 8AM and ran through to 2pm Tuesday 9th July, 2019.
Since the protest, a major climate change environmental group has been in contact with Cornish campaigners.
#KernowMatters
Councillors Julian German and Andrew Mitchell were outside the Council building listening to protesters' concerns about the perceived over-development of Cornwall. Rather a different approach to Cllr Tudor!
Councillor Mitchell said: "We welcome this opportunity to talk to residents."
Finally, a word from Cornish Solidarity:
LETS GET THIS STRAIGHT FOR STARTERS!
While Cornish Solidarity wholeheartedly supports a long overdue lawful, peaceful demonstration at Kremlin Kernow, it is not the organiser.
Btw, putting councillor Tudor in the Strategic Planning Chair is akin to putting a fox in control of our chickens.
It is actually the worst kind of political patronage by the Liberal Democrats, typifying why a demonstration is necessary.
