Whilst Camelford, Tideford, Truro, Redruth/Pool/Camborne, Gunnislake, Grampound, Launceston, Bodmin & St. Austell try to combat officially toxic air situations, senior Cornwall Council officers and planners keep pushing for higher and higher new housing targets - including a new town between Chiverton and Treliske Hospital - to satisfy the developers' thirst for profit.

"The bid for a bypass to take traffic away from a pollution-plagued Cornish town has been discussed at the highest level of government in the land. Plans for a bypass for Camelford have been discussed for years after it was revealed that the town suffers from dangerous levels of toxic air and congestion due to the increasingly busy A39 running through its centre. The problem is so bad that Cornwall Council once considered a plan to buy people's homes and move them away from the route."

As the silly (summer) season approaches, one commentator writes:

NOROVIRUS, FRESH AIR & SUMMER HOLIDAYS

It’s become a standard now - awaited with certain dread ...
Seasonal Norovirus & Air Pollution of the worst order!
The drains begin to choke and stink, the sewage farms overload - and the outlets begin to overflow. The air, thick with the stench.

Vomiting and diarrhoea runs like a plague; the swell of visitors, like an invading army - quickly turning Cornwall into a badly soiled festival toilet. ‘It must have been the seafood or the beer?’ they suggest - ‘It’s just a little stomach upset!’ ...

Then there’s the litany of allergies and bronchial ailments; we are told the sniffling and the congestion, the weepy eyes and the wheezing is pollen related, rather than the effects and burden of pollution. Where’s all this pollen coming from you’d likely wonder? I guess it must be those few flowers left by Cormac causing the problems?

Do please tell me, or begin to consider - ‘Where is the next incinerator going to be built, in order to burn the wanton waste of 52,000+ houses?’

Our health is being flushed down the pan by Cornwall Council.

From one resident:

"I think there are many of us out there that feel exactly the same way as the author of the e-mail. I am in Quintrell Downs and we now have to start a fight against the Kingsley Developers for a massive 1000-unit holiday park covering 50 hectares of Green belt land, which is bigger than our village itself. The council really need to listen to the locals, despite the fact that they have raped this county (sic) beyond repair! It is a disgrace what has happened in concrete Cornwall!"

Before another adds:

"We are currently trying to stand up to Kingsley developers that were planning on building 60 properties in the village of Cubert; I believe the power of the people had a strong voice however they are back again proposing 30 dwellings.... We are sick of the money thirsty developers raping our countryside for their own gain. If any one is interested or has an interest in Cubert, please go onto the Cornwall government site and have your say PA18/08384.
See you 9th July"

Another asked:

"I would love to know the actual figure for the number of houses built and being built over the last five years in Cornwall, and the comparative increase in services?!"

So would we!!
