Outrage as tax payers' money is used to support Duke of Cornwall's housing development schemes, whilst proper funding for Cornwall's public services is denied. (latest Cornish hospital closure here despite wishes of local campaigners: www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/fowey-community-hospital-demolished-replaced-1530060) The green face of the Duke (Charles Windsor) is replaced by the true face of a hard-nosed property developer in "his" cash-generating Duchy estate. A recent blog about the Council's false claims that virtually all housing goes to locals and the apparent absence of any evidence for this, following several FOI requests. https://cornwalldevelopersparadise.wordpress.com/ One angry resident sent this to Cornwall Council today: Council Tax Revenues Cornwall Council PO Box 676 TRURO TR1 9EQ 4th May, 2018 Dear Sirs & Mesdames, My Council Tax Bill 2018/2019 – Account Reference I refer you to my second email sent to the Council Revenues Department on 13th April, 2018 and attached hereunder to which, once again, I have not yet received the courtesy of an acknowledgement yet alone a full response. When I was part of the public service, it was the rule that all correspondence be acknowledged within 14 days even if a full response took longer. I do understand that things have changed now and that the taxpayer is now here to be dictated to by the lunatic fringe in Westminster and their lackeys at Cornwall Council who take copious amounts of our hard earned cash but return little for it. So, let me place this request into a letter sent by Royal Mail. Now, I am well aware that your blow in, white settler and overpaid chief officers are all busy attending shag and drink fests in Cannes paid for at our expense naturally, and that others might be busy licking the greasy brown ass of the lecherous Duke of Cornwall and lining his cavernous pockets with more of our tax money paying for his latest fruit bat road scheme in Newquay but perhaps you might care to answer my enquiry as attached or should I stop my direct debit payments and air this out in Court? By the way, you can also treat this letter as a complaint and pass it to that department as well. I expect they are rather busy right now in view of the criminally inept way Cornwall Council is being run by the blow ins. I do look forward to your reply. Yours unfaithfully (Name withheld) (taxpayer) Enc. One Truro campaigner challenged Penzance Councillor Tim Dwelly in his letter, relating to his claims about housing in Cornwall, which seem totally made up! Subject: The Truth About Housing Date: Wed, 2 May 2018 10:00:06 +0100 To: Dwelly Tim CC CC: Paynter Adam CC Dear Mr Dwelly, When I challenged the assertion that you made in an email of 15th March this year that "the vast majority of new homes are bought/rented by local people", you wrote to me on the 19th March, stating that "The housing department at the Council has tracked this with large surveys. The figure is something like 80% local" I replied asking for sight of this evidence and, having heard nothing from you since, was about to remind you. However, by chance, a colleague of mine had put in a FOI request to the Council about your claim, asking if such surveys had been conducted and what methodology had been used. The reply he received, dated 26th April, stated plainly and unambiguously that the Council has "not been conducting 'survey research' on the destination of new housing in Cornwall." So there we have it. The question now becomes: Did you make up this nonsense about the surveys and the 80% figure and, if so, why? And, if you didn't make it up, who fed it to you? Yours sincerely, (name withheld) Another angry Penwith resident (one from your ward, councillor Dwelly!), and former district council planner himself, adds: “We've all been lied to. The Council claims that it has no money, so is cutting services to the long-suffering Cornish population, cutting jobs left, right and centre, and raising our Council Tax. Yet, like Theresa May, it appears to have a magic money tree (that it otherwise denies it has), that can be used to appoint the superfluous likes of John "blow-in" Betty and pay his exorbitant salary, and to bail out a filthy-rich, tight-arsed Duke who won't dip his hand in his own bloody pocket. To add insult to injury, the Council has also already, and shamefully, agreed to reduce the proportion of supposedly "affordable" homes at the Nansledan site that had originally been a condition of the approval.”
