Warnings were sent to the council and developers years ago, that there were serious risks from old mining works all over the Redruth and Camborne areas, but Mason and his planning team arrogantly dismissed and ignored all such concerns; do non-Cornish home buyers know the area's history and the Swiss cheese potential on these new plasterboard estates?!! www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/road-closure-main-redruth-commuter-478885 What one local resident had to say: "Your latest update reminds me of when I researched the mines around St. Austell for my thesis, about 25 years ago. I offered the research findings to the then Restormel Council, only to be met with the response: "Take that away! If we know where they (the mines) are, we'll have to do something about them. You'll upset a lot of powerful people". Funnily enough, who has built rabbit hutches on a lot of those mine sites? Wain and Linden Homes.... The only developer that listened was the one that built houses on the old mine site in Crinnis Woods. They told me: "We know where the shafts are, all three of them". Then I showed them my charts and the site engineer went a bit pale... I think only 1/3 of the proposed houses were ever built at Wheal Regent...!" What about Redruth and Camborne?!!
