First and foremost a huge thank you to each and every person who has signed or shared this petition. The response has been so much more that I ever dreamed when we started this. In the last 24 hours the story has appeared on CorkBeo and Yay Cork and it's very clear from the climb in numbers how important these dog parks are for our city.
Since the last update where we had a motion set for the 22nd of February we have now gotten that moved forward to this coming week. I don't know what day that meeting is held so let's keep the momentum going. Since Friday we have more than doubled the number of supporters. That is a clear sign to councillors that we need these parks. While the meeting this week is specifically to determine if a dog park is feasible within Tory Top park this campaign is to get more that one dog park. This should be as common as play areas for children within parks. In order to be sure that other parks are considered please continue to sign the petition, share it on all of your social medias and talk to people about it. Share your reasons for signing below the petition. I've already had one councillor admit that they had previously not understood the importance of dog parks until they read the email I sent from my own personal experience.
We all have stories of why we know dog parks are needed, whether you're a dog owner or you have just been walking through a park where there were dogs running around. Share these stories. Let's make this personal and it will be hard to dismiss all of our voices.
