Dog park proposals

I have heard from a lot of city councilors that I contacted about getting a dog park so I wanted to give you all a update and some steps to help make dog parks in Cork city a reality.

There are proposals for dog parks in both Tramore Valley and Ballincollig parks but there is no funding at present for this. We are asking for smaller enclosed green areas in the parks throughout the city that people would be able to walk to and meet the people and dogs they know. As a result of this we have managed to get a motion put down to examine if it would be possible to get an enclosed area in Tory Top (Ballyphehane) park for the dogs. This goes before the council on February 22nd.

What can we do to help:

1. Share this petition, get as many people to sign it as possible. The councilor I was talking to, Shane, said the more signatures on this petition the more he can use it as an argument with the council. The more publicity and awareness we can bring to this in the next few weeks the better.

2. Send on any other parks or green areas where you think a dog park or just an enclosed area would be possible or needed. A lot of the councilors I have spoken to have asked for suggestions. I only know the parks I go to so any suggestions would be helpful. I can make a list and send them to the council for consideration.

Until then thank you for supporting this and sharing the message. Let's keep it up until we finally have safe spaces for our dogs to run free
