Children suffer when only one parent is heard — especially neurodivergent children. But this law protects all families from silence, gatekeeping, and institutional bias. My name is Chris Hubbel. I have joint legal custody of my daughter, Coraline, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD. But for years, doctors, therapists, and schools acted like I didn’t exist.

I wasn’t told when Coraline was diagnosed.
I wasn’t notified about medical appointments.
I wasn’t invited to IEP meetings or therapy referrals.

Not because I wasn’t legally entitled — but because they never asked who her father was.

🩸 This is how fathers are erased in silence.
No screaming. No courtroom scene. Just a quiet form that says “Mother Only.”
Just a doctor who writes, “Father is not involved.”
Just a teacher who forgets to CC the other parent.

It’s not a custody battle.
It’s systemic erasure — and neurodivergent kids like Coraline suffer the most.

💔 My daughter has been emotionally scripted against me.
She repeats things she doesn’t understand. She acts out scripts that sound like court filings.
She has meltdowns after transitions because the rules are different in each home.
She’s been forced into trauma loops over potty training, food, sleep, and stories about who loves her more.

Why?
Because the system let one parent control the narrative — while I was locked out.

📣 That’s why I’m asking Kansas lawmakers to pass Coraline’s Law.

 
🛠 What Coraline’s Law Will Do:
✅ Require doctors, schools, and therapists to verify legal custody at intake
✅ Ensure both legal parents are notified of major decisions — like IEPs, medications, or evaluations
✅ Mandate that providers flag and report emotional scripting and coercion in neurodivergent children
✅ Impose fines, audits, and licensing reviews for repeated violations or gatekeeping
✅ Protect children with Autism, ADHD, or developmental delays from being used as leverage

 
Because when only one parent gets heard, the child’s truth gets rewritten.
And when neurodivergent children are scripted — they lose their ability to become who they really are.
