Cooperstown and Charlotte Valley Railroad

The Issue

As an avid train enthusiast who deeply cares about railroad history, I am personally invested in the preservation of our local railroads. The Cooperstown and Charlotte Valley Railroad (CCVR), a significant part of our community's heritage, is currently in need of rehabilitation for its entire 16 miles of track.

The CCVR has been a vital part of Cooperstown's history since its establishment in 1869. However, the current state of disrepair threatens not only this historical legacy but also the potential for daily excursion train services that could significantly boost local tourism.

Partnering with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) would provide CCVR with much-needed resources for rehabilitation. The FRA has a proven track record in assisting railroads across America, ensuring safety standards are met while preserving historical integrity.

We believe that this partnership will not only protect our railroad heritage but also contribute to economic growth by attracting more tourists to this beautiful town in Central New York. This is an opportunity to preserve history while paving the way for future generations to appreciate and learn from it.

Please join us in urging both parties - Cooperstown and Charlotte Valley Railroad and the Federal Railroad Administration - to collaborate on this important project. Sign this petition today!
