At the Irvine City Council meeting on Feb. 13, council members heard from parents whose teens ride the bus to University High School, or who would like to in the future. Rather than allocate funding for 2024-25, the council decided to form a subcommittee to meet with IUSD board members and the superintendent to "study" the issue, and report back in a month. So far, parents have not been invited to participate in that subcommittee.

No IUSD board members were present at the city council meeting, but to the best of our knowledge, IUSD does not welcome city funding for a bus. Only one IUSD board member has publicly addressed the council on this issue, which was back in August to express his concerns and opposition.
