Around the world, greenhouse gas emissions are causing a major problem--climate change. It is universally accepted that the burning of fossil fuels is the biggest contributor to climate change, and therefore cutting down on it would impact emissions greatly, but the truth is that there are many other ways that remain unknown to many. One of them is green urban building and city planning. Green urban planning is essentially making more environmentally friendly and sustainable cities. For example, green roofs (roofs with vegetation, usually planted using hydroponics) can help regulate temperature in buildings and grow more local fresh produce. Painting the walls of buildings lighter shades helps reduce the need for cooling, therefore saving energy. Ideas like these are highly sustainable, both for the environment and the economy, making cities more safe for the future generations while keeping enough money to invest in the future.
