The Issue

Louisville, KY, known for its compassionate culture, is facing a critical situation. Despite our best efforts, our city's existing animal shelters are overflowing, unable to keep up with the constant influx of cats, dogs, and other pets in need of rescue and adoption. The Louisville Metro Animal Service, our primary animal shelter, was designed to accommodate roughly 8,000 animals per year, but it's currently exceeding this capacity by over 20%. The rise in animals in need of care is leading to overcrowded conditions, which is not conducive to the health and well-being of these animals. It is urgent that we invest in the construction of an additional animal shelter to alleviate this issue.

By creating another shelter, we could not only provide a safe haven for these animals but also extend our capacity to offer essential services such as medical care, sterilization, and a robust adoption program. The new shelter would also create job opportunities for our community and allow volunteers who want to contribute to animal welfare more options to pitch in.

We need to show our commitment to animal welfare by demanding an additional animal shelter in Louisville. Our city, our community, and most importantly, our animals are counting on us. Please sign this petition to show your support for the construction of an additional animal shelter.
