CONGRESS! WE DEMAND LEGISLATION TO OUTLAW FILMING OR POSTING ANIMAL ABUSE ON SOCIAL MEDIA!

The Issue

Every person is adversely affected by animal abuse as it marginalizes our responsibility to the very animals of which we have been made steward.

If things remain the same, our humanity goes out the window and is irreversibly reduced. Animals are defenseless to prevent animal abuse and this task and responsibility is left to humans to protect them.

Posting animal abuse on social media platforms is very damaging to the psyche of children and adults. The time to act is now because we can and should. Posting animal abuse for the sheer thrill of getting more clicks is disgusting beyond human comprehension and must end. (e.g. YouTube, Meta, Facebook, Instagram, WeChat, Twitter, to name a few)

Attention Congress and legislative bodies around the world - we emphatically demand the immediate outlawing and/or filming or 'posting of animal abuse for clicks' or any other reason. This legislation is the only humane thing to do and should not take long to enact and gain support worldwide. The legislation should be strongly worded and punishment for violations should be swift, severe, and without any provisions for plea deals. The owners and operators of social media platforms should be swiftly, and severely monetarily punished if they allow animal abuse videos or photos on their servers or platforms. Three strikes and you're out, violations result in the platform being shut down for a minimum of one year. It is clear that social media platforms already have the tools and necessary algorithms to keep specific content off of their platforms; so the cost for them to implement and enforce this proposed legislation will be minimal.
