Last week the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 244-172, with most Republicans voting "NO" on the bill. The measure included the highly problematic "victim-centered" and "trauma-informed" language.

Now the bill moves to the Senate.

There, Democrats will introduce the same bill as the version that passed in the House. Sen. Joni Ernst, pictured above, will be taking the lead in drafting the Republican version of the bill.

  • Does Joni Ernst understand how words like "victim-centered" and "trauma-informed" serve to bias investigations, vitiate the presumption of innocence, and lead to wrongful convictions?

Probably not.

It's important that we pepper her office with calls DEMANDING that her bill advocate for impartial investigations, not "victim-centered" or "trauma-informed" methods.

Here's her phone number: (202) 224-3254. The clock is ticking...please call now!
