On this point, liberals and conservatives agree: A "War on Truth" is currently raging in our society. Books, newspaper stories, and magazine articles have decried how the basic notion of "Truth" has become politicized, manipulated, and ridiculed.

Consider the many ways how victim-centered investigations weaken the fundamental idea of Truth:

1. Instead of using bias-free words, complainants are referred to as "victims."
2. Rather than starting an investigation with an open and objective mind, detectives are told to "start by believing"
3. Instead of objectively following the evidence, investigators are mandated to  get witness statements that serve to “corroborate the victim’s account.”
4. When the complainant's account changes over time or contradicts witness testimony, we're told that's proof of the "trauma" that she experienced.
5. Instead of seeking to uncover the truth, we're now told the main focus of an adjudication is to avoid "retraumatizing the victim."

The list goes on and on.

So what will happen if our legal system becomes based more on "belief" than on the Truth?
