Congress should pass a non-binding resolution of reprimand against Eileen Gu

The Issue

Eileen Gu, a professional athlete and United States citizen, elected to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics representing China. Despite long benefiting from the rights, privileges, and benefits of U.S. citizenship, Gu chose to represent a hostile foreign adversary in exchange for millions of dollars from the Chinese Communist Party (“CCP”) and CCP-aligned corporate sponsors. By doing so, she has harmed U.S. national identity and unity, promoted disloyalty, and furthered the interests of an oppressive and hostile foreign adversary at the expense of U.S. and international humanitarian interests. For these activities, Congress should adopt a non-binding resolution of censure or reprimand expressing the disapproval of and disappointment in these actions on behalf of the American people.
