Hong Kong Kills 20,000 Chinese Chickens Infected with H7N9 Flu Virus

Jan 28, 2014 — The New York Times reports that Hong Kong is killing 20,000 chickens imported from mainland China and found to be infected with H7N9 avian flu. To date, over 200 people have been infected with H7N9 and over 50 have died from the virus.

Associated Press As the Chinese are getting ready for their Lunar New Year feasts, several areas in China have banned the sale of live chickens, and the Hong Kong government started culling 20,000 of the birds on Tuesday as fears grew about the spread of avian influenza.
