Digital Day of Action This Friday!
May 4, 2015 — Hi Everyone!
This Friday, May 8th, we will be hosting a digital Day of Action where we ask each one of you to email your Congressman and Senators and tell them that it is time to pass the Safe Schools Improvement Act.
The reality is, if Congress thinks they can ignore this issue without any consequences, they will -- which is why we need to show them that we will not be ignored. They need to hear from us and know that we are watching and paying attention to their actions.
That is why we would like to do a coordinated Day of Action this Friday. Below you can see a form letter that we have written which you can copy and paste into email to your Senators and Representative, as well as information on how to determine who your Congressman is and how to contact them. We hope you can all participate this Friday, and we thank you for your support!
To find your local Representative, click here: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/
Enter your zip code, and when the name of your Representative appears, click on the mail icon to be immediately directed to email them, or click on their name and once on their webpage click “Contact” to find the appropriate page.
To find your Senators, click here: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm
Enter your state in the dropdown menu, and you will be directed to a page that includes a link to contact both of your Senators.
Once there, enter your information, and then include the following message:
Dear Senator/Representative NAME HERE,
My name is NAME HERE, and I am a resident in YOUR DISTRICT/YOUR STATE. I have been closely following efforts to get a vital piece of legislation passed in the United States Congress, the Safe Schools Improvement Act, and I need to tell you why it is so important that you support this bill and make sure it gets a vote.
More than ever before, our kids are being subjected to vicious bullying in school and over the internet, and as I’m sure you know, state laws are not addressing this problem. We are losing thousands of young people each year to suicide brought on by this horrible situation, and it is time that you, as my elected representative, do something to help stop it.
I am joining 100,000 other citizens in support of this petition: www.change.org/StopBullying, and we are all calling on you and your colleagues in Congress to immediately pass the Safe Schools Improvement Act as an important first step to help make our schools safe, nurturing environments where our kids can learn and grow -- not the places that convince them to take their lives.
Please voice your support for this bill today. Our kids need your help.
Thank you as always for your support!
