Change the law that dictates when an officer of the law can fire their weapon. Federal law should mandate that an officer cannot fire his/her weapon unless fired upon first. There have been too many unjustified killings. Officers understand the risks involved in their line of work and still they choose to serve. Putting their life on the line is part of the sacrifice that police officers make. "If they shoot first there is no risk; if there is no risk there is no sacrifice."j.a.s. '20

The law I am proposing is simple. An officer must first be shot at before he/she can return fire. They have alternatives such as stun guns and pepper spray which they can use prior to firing their guns.

Also, body camera recordings should be considered public records subject to immediate disclosure.
