We're still gathering information at the moment to figure out our next  course of action.  

If we don't sell our other half of our lot we could start building our home, but the building price per square foot has gone up drastically over the last few years.  This brings us back to the city issuing us a demo permit when they knew our plan, and then sprung the surprise on us of having to make all the improvements before we can sell the lot. We most likely wouldn't have knocked down the home if we knew this.  

Now that city says we only have to improve the portion along our property line, and not the whole road, we may be able to do this and sell the lot as an improved lot and recoup some expenses.
