Our message has reached the Parliament of Uganda. Will you please continue to share the petition?

My dear supporters,
Thanks to our collective voices, our message is reaching boardrooms that matter. Will you please continue to share the petition so we can gather more signatures and send a stronger message demanding accountability and reform in Makerere University and all academic institutions across Uganda?
The Chairperson of the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association (UWOPA), in the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda, Hon. Linda Agnes Auma has reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the rights and interests of women and girls through institutional reforms, stronger partnerships and improved access to justice. Speaking at UWOPA’s annual general meeting this morning, Auma said there are ongoing efforts to rebuild partnerships with development partners and mobilise support for initiatives aimed at empowering women and improving their livelihoods across Uganda.
Hon. Auma gave a specific reference to the ongoing #justiceforhanifa which is justice for every victim, and particularly mentioned that UWOPA is behind this movement (in her words and her voice). This is a big step in our movement to create safe spaces for all students in Makerere and all academic institutions across Uganda. Our efforts are showing positive results so far:
- Makerere University suspended Dr. Buyinza Faisal from all his leadership and administrative responsibilities.
- An investigations committee was instated to investigate Dr. Buyinza Faisal on harassment, domestic violence and abuse of power.
- The Uganda Women Parliamentary Association (UWOPA) has joined the movement and called out this abuse of our rights.
This is all because of your relentless support for this movement. This is because of your continued commitment to share this petition far and wide. Will you please continue to share this petition to make our voices stronger?
Thank you for yoru support,
Hanifa Nakiryowa.
