Concerned Citizens of East Keith Road
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are residents of Lynnmour and North Vancouver, and we stand united in protecting our community from the escalating challenges of criminal activity and open drug use. Our neighbourhood is already burdened with safety concerns—from recent break-ins to rising crime—and we cannot allow developments that weaken our security standards.
The proposed supportive housing development at 1200 East Keith Road not only threatens our well-being but also signals a broader failure in community planning and law enforcement. Experiences at similar facilities, such as the Travelodge managed by the same operator, have demonstrated that without strict oversight, areas can become magnets for illegal drug use and criminal behavior. This endangers the safety of our children, families, and community spaces—including daycares and the new Cloverley Elementary School.
We demand that our elected officials implement and enforce a zero tolerance policy for illegal drug use and criminal activity. Rather than fast-tracking projects that lack rigorous safety measures, we call for comprehensive consultations with law enforcement and community stakeholders to establish strict, enforceable standards that protect our neighbourhood.
Immediate and decisive action is required. We urge the Mayor and Council to reassess not only the zoning for this project but also the broader policies that permit developments without robust security protocols. Our fight is not solely about a single project—it is about setting a precedent for community safety and ensuring that every development in our district upholds the highest standards of public security.
By rejecting developments that compromise safety and demanding a zero tolerance approach to criminal activity, we can secure a safer, more resilient future for our community.
