Forest, VA Zoning: Final Push for 1000 Signatures by August 12

The Issue

If you have already signed this petition: Thank you!

If not, please read on.

On August 12, 2024, another high-density-housing re-zoning request is scheduled before the Bedford County Board of Supervisors. This one is along Forest Road, opposite the Gables. [The Gables is an existing high-density development, the front facing part of which is a strip of shops, including Sourdough Pizza, Fusion salon, Kissed Cupcakes, and others.]

This latest request comes from the same developer that built Westyn Village, Cottontown Manor (now Palisades at Hunter's Creek), Rosedale on Graves Mill Road, and West Edge on 460. Two of these complexes have been sold to an out-of-state entity and a third is for sale. Thus, we have out-of-state entities controlling a significant portion of the rental market. For instance, the sales packet for Westyn Village notes that rent may be raised "organically".

Please sign this petition if you live in Forest and are in favor of responsible development of our resources and are against the nature of our beautiful town being too largely influenced by developers, who, it appears, seek to build non-conforming, high-density apartments, and then sell to out-of-state investors.

We don't need any money. Sign the petition and attend the meeting if you can. You may also write the Bedford County Board of Supervisors at publichearing@bedfordcountyva.gov.

Thank you.
