Save Mrs. Butterworth!!

The Issue

We have reached a pinnacle in today's world.   Twitter and other social media has overtaken constructive criticism, collective thought, and actual voting polls to somehow  represent entire masses of people just because a small audience gets together, set their sights on a target, and get people to share it.    And stoking this madness are multinational corporations who are perpetrating the very act of giving into the very few who are crying foul and falsely representing the masses.

Since I was a child, We have been constant Mrs. Butterworth syrup consumers in my family.  My sweet grandmother would make my pancakes in the morning, and always bring out the Mrs. Butterworth syrup from the cabinet, and slide it along the kitchen table towards my direction as I sat at the table and gave the bottle life like movements like in the commercials.  She would then give the bottle a sweet grandmotherly voice like in the commercials and say "Good Morning my sweet sunshine, so glad you came to see me again today!", as she handed me Mrs. Butterworth to add as much as I desired to my pancakes.   In fact, my grandmother herself even resembled Mrs. Butterworth with the same hairstyle and house dress as many grandmothers of that generation . To now somehow find fault in this iconic symbol, an image and shape known and loved by millions the world over is a tragedy.  Mrs.Butterworth has no nationality.  She is a Mother and Grandmother icon to many.  She represents all.

With the times we live in, we are finally awakened to many injustices that hurt certain  people and we are committed to changing these injustices as a society.  But at the same time, rational thought and common sense must also be the biggest factor in the gauge scale whether something is really and truly offensive.  There are people who are offended by blue skies and the color yellow, but we are not banning them.  So I ask, Nay, IMPLORE Conagra corporation to leave Mrs. Butterworth alone exactly as she is, so we can all appreciate what she represents to many, a Motherly figure who we all have grown to love!
