A recent new strategy has come across our radar with regards to attempts by the cycling community to discredit the validity of our Petition seeking Compulsory Single File.

We're starting to see many fake images and fake screenshots on social media (especially Twitter) which appear to be ours (at first glance) stating things we would never say.  When we first started seeing this trend we were puzzled,  but it's clear a concerted misinformation campaign is now afoot.

So first,  some background.  When we started our calls for Compulsory Single File,  we acquired an unused Facebook Page in October 2017 which had been orphaned.  It had roughly 2,500 followers and it hadn't published a new post for months so we made an application to Facebook to acquire the page and after waiting 4 weeks the Page was granted to us to use.

That Page is known as Drivers For Registration Of Cyclists,  and while it's true the Page has grown exponentially since October 2017,  ideally we'd like to rename the page to Single File Please because that name is more accurate to our mission statement.

Which brings us to where are today in June 2018.

It seems our intellectual copyright is being used without our permission by a person running a Facebook Page called Drivers For Registration of Cyclists Exposed.  We're confident we know who that person is. Essentially, DFROC Exposed is stealing our logos and artwork and they're engaging in misinformation.

Further,  these fake images are being sent to politicians and media outlets as examples of why Change Dot Org should remove our petition for Compulsory Single File. 

It has also come to our attention several key players in the cycling lobby are forwarding these fake images and articles to various cycling websites in an effort to discredit Single File Please and our contributors.

Perhaps worst of all,  DFROC Exposed is targeting a person who is not involved with our organisation in any capacity.  Perhaps this person was the previous owner of our Facebook Page?  We just don't know because  that information wasn't given to us by Facebook when we took over the orphaned Page.  

In any event,  the cycling lobby is claiming none of you (our readers) would have the views that you have on Compulsory Single File if our Petition didn't exist . In reality, the cycling lobby is desperate to shut the Petition down. But it's not our Petition, it's YOUR Petition.

Unfortunately that's how misinformation works in this modern era. All we ask is please, keep sharing the Petition with your friends and acquaintances.

Let's keep spreading the word and let's get Compulsory Single File across the line. Also, many thanks to Change Dot Org for allowing us, you, all of us, to have a say on this subject.
