In an unfortunate incident that took place in my hometown, a young girl's stalker poured petrol on her and set her on fire for not reciprocating his overtures. The victim, Ankita, was admitted to the local hospital with 90 per cent burn injuries, she died five days later on August 28. It broke my heart to learn that till evening before she died, she was asking every visitor to tell her honestly whether she would survive or not.

The accused, her neighbour, has been arrested and is being tried in a fast track court. Ankita dreamt of becoming a police officer - and getting her justice through law and order is the least that we can do for her.
