Complete E. Concord sidewalk and ensuring traffic safety in St. Louis County
Complete E. Concord sidewalk and ensuring traffic safety in St. Louis County
The Issue
Every day, as residents of the neighborhood off of E. Concord in south St. Louis County, we face challenges to our safety and quality of life. My family cannot enjoy a simple walk with our dog and baby because of the lack of proper walking infrastructure on our street. E. Concord is unique, lined by beautiful homes, but it lacks sidewalks and shoulders, essentials in ensuring a safe and traffic-friendly environment.
It's not just about convenience; it is a question of security and well-being. Without a continuous sidewalk, we are forced to share space with vehicles on busy roads, increasing the risk of accidents. Currently, parts of E. Concord have already begun to see sidewalk construction. It is imperative that this is extended through the entire street, providing our community a safe place to walk, jog, bike, and push strollers.
Moreover, we are deeply concerned by the planned additional intersection being added on E. Concord near Lindbergh Blvd. This will bring about increased traffic, remove the serenity of our residential area, and potentially cause new safety hazards. Ut has been shared by St. Louis county Transportation and Public Works that the intersection can not be halted at this time. This makes it even more imperative that pedestrian safety is considered with the increased traffic by installing a sidewalk through E Concord
Furthermore, we want the county to consider other safety improvements such as no left turn sign ant the new intersection, extra lane, or speed bumps.
The well-being of our neighbors and particularly our children is at stake. We must use our collective voices to ask St. Louis County to prioritize our safety over infrastructure projects that serve no beneficial purpose to our community.
By signing this petition, you can join us in calling upon the officials to see through the completion of the sidewalk project on E. Concord and review and additional safety measures that can be placed at the construction of the additional intersection. Let's ensure that our streets remain safe, accessible, and well-planned for every member of our community. Please sign and support our petition for a safer neighborhood.
