Dear Supporters,
Thank you so much for your support and for signing the petition regarding the complaint against Father Samir Haddad. Your efforts are invaluable as we continue to raise awareness of the situation and push for accountability within the Melkite Church.
Despite our repeated attempts to engage with the church leadership, including Bishop Robert Rabbat, over the past six months, we have yet to receive any acknowledgment or response. It is deeply concerning that our complaints have been ignored, and the church has not taken the necessary steps to address the concerns raised about Father Samir Haddad’s actions.
However, we are not giving up. Recently, David Shoebridge, Senator for NSW, has taken a stand by formally requesting the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) to investigate how the Melkite Church is handling this matter. Please find attached a copy of the letter sent by Senator Shoebridge, which outlines the need for further investigation and accountability.
We remain committed to ensuring that the concerns raised are addressed, that justice is served, and that appropriate measures are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
If you haven’t already, please continue to share the petition with your friends, family, and networks. Every signature and voice adds weight to our call for action.
Thank you once again for your support.
“It is not only what we do, but also what we do not do, for which we are accountable.”
