Compel Alameda to end engagements with Flock Safety

Compel Alameda to end engagements with Flock Safety
The Issue
The city of Alameda contracts with Flock Safety for Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras both for APD patrol vehicles and roadway surveillance, and for management of data collected by the same. Extensive reporting has shown Flock to be an unethical actor in this space; Alameda must stop giving them our money.
Flock has been reported to share data directly with ICE and CBP (1), deceive local authorities about their policies to do so (2), actively re-deploy back into communities that have already terminated their agreement (3), and fail to take basic, industry-standard measures to safeguard the data from access by anyone, anywhere (4).
Alameda is a sanctuary city. This is a promise that local funds and law enforcement must NEVER be used to assist federal immigration enforcement. Any partnership with Flock violates this commitment.
Drivers must stop for red lights and obey speed limits. These laws can and must be enforced by other means, ones that do not come the cost of selling out our community's most vulnerable, and breaking our promise to them.
Please join me in demanding that our city officials follow through on their word and treat Flock as the threat to safety that it is. Sign this petition to compel the city of Alameda to end its contract with Flock Safety, remove its cameras from our streets, and delete all data collected from our community, and to do so NOW, before it brings more harm to our neighbors and ourselves.
Please help share this petition with others. It will only succeed if every signer passes it along to two more. Use the Share button, or copy this link https://c.org/mXHRCMPg9M or this QR code:
