Yesterday in Paris and Brussels we met with fifty information and investigation journalists, to discuss the threats of the Directive and the urgency to mobilize all the European Parliament MPs on this dangerous text. Together we went to the representation of the European Parliament in Paris, where a small delegation was received by Isabelle Coustet, the Communications Office Director of the European Parliament in France. After having exposed the risks of this text for freedom of information, we handed her the petition your 270.000 signatures on Change.org petition. She assured us to convey the message to the European Parliament in Brussels, and we have also the same night confirmed that the petition was sent to the JURI Committee, in charge of the vote of the directive this Tuesday, June 16, one of the first important steps in the legislative process on this directive. But members of the JURI Committee just ignore our 300,000 signatures. Even though they are supposed to represent us, they have ignored our mobilization and adopted the text. It's a shame, and we must take action. Everything is not lost : the text will now be discussed between representatives of the Commission, Council and European Parliament. It is now that we must convince them to respond to our petition, but we'll have to be even stronger and louder.
