Petition Update 5/26/26: This Fight Is Not Over

Willamette Week recently published a story highlighting community concerns about the proposed 150-foot Verizon cell tower next to Sauvie Island School, bringing broader attention to an issue that remains very much unresolved.

Despite significant community concern and growing public awareness, there has been no further communication or updates from either the Sauvie Island Grange or Verizon. Many community members also left the PR-sponsored informational meeting held at the Grange on 5/11/26 feeling that the event did not lead to meaningful next steps and that community concerns and feedback were not fully heard or reflected in the process. We understand the next step is an application for a county permit, meaning the proposal is still moving forward. 

Media attention is encouraging, but this issue is ongoing. As the process continues, transparency and community input matter more than ever.  Thank you for continuing to stand with our students, families, and community by sharing this petition, staying engaged, and making your voice heard—including through letters to the County Commissioners’ Office, County Land Use Office, Sauvie Island Grange, and the State Grange.
