UPDATE – Please read and take action re proposed Caravan Park Development
I spoke with the team leader, Mitch Mader, ay Wyndham City Council earlier today. Excellent to deal with and fully understands the community concern, however his role is solely to make a recommendation based on the rules of the planning guidelines and legality of proposals. He did note that this development has had a lot of objections, 322 so far on the council website and more to process.
The decision will go to a planning meeting where Council Councillors have the final vote. Those who formally object will be kept up to date and receive details of the date, time and location of the final Planning Meeting where we can voice our concerns in front of the Councillors who will vote on this development.
If the development is knocked back with Councillors voting “No”, the developer may go to VCAT and community can still have a voice at that hearing. If VCAT approve, depending on how committed and financially viable, the community can take the matter to the Supreme Court.
OUR VOICE can be hard in three way ways today:
- Email all Councillors to object against this development, why we object and ensuring they are made aware that as a community, our expectation is that they represent the community that votes for them! We need to contact all of them as they all get a vote!
- Lodge a formal objection on the Council Website ensuring the application ID “WYP14922/25” is referenced for the planning permit reference.
- Email local MP, Mathew Hilakari and call his office on (03) 9395 0221 to express your concerns about this development not being in line with the community
By overloading our Councillors, MP and the Council Planning Team with our objections, the more traction we will get, and Councillors cannot ignore. Call and email your local Councillor and all other Councillors as they all get to vote so bombarding just Susan McIntyre is not the only solution. Also, the Councillors cannot seem to be biased or they risk losing their vote so please be gentle with them!
