Community Defibrillator for Woodford Garden Village

The Issue

70 people die in Stockport each month due to heart and circulatory disease. That's 1 person every 11 hours. 7600 Stockport residents have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and in the North West only 1 in 13 people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Whilst CPR can help, in some situations chances of survival is as low as 6%.

Defibrillators play a vital role in saving the lives of people who suffer heart attacks in public - increasing survival rates by between 75pc and 80pc when used in conjunction with CPR

Yet here in Woodford Garden Village we have NO defibrillator on an estate expected to eventually hold 2500 people and maybe more.

Our current closest defibrillator is a mile or more away from many of the houses on or to be built on the estate and even more concerning it is across a busy main road through Woodford. This will mean that many residents including young children, may need to run over 2 miles and cross a busy road at a time of high stress AND put themselves at risk to save the life of a loved one!!

This is why we are asking for funds to be provided to allow us to purchase and home a defibrillator right in the centre of WGV, accessible to all and a literal lifeline to the many in our community that may suffer from a heart related illness.

Help us now to avoid any unnecessary deaths in our community by signing today!!
