As an elected official, it is your duty to at least listen to your constituents. Elected officials may not always agree with what is being shared, but they should listen with understanding and compassion. Alamance County Commissioner Bill Lashley has made it clear that he is only in his position to cater to one population of people. For this, he must resign.

When a constituent shared her concerns and views on the controversial confederate monument in Graham, Lashley berated her. He said "If you and your friends did not hate America so much you would realize America May not be purific but it's a good country" and "You must be a Democrat they seem to hate everything, especially America" and "Can you not read,Or you trying to overthrow America" For this, he must resign. 

These two instances were within the last 2 weeks. One could only imagine what else he has done during his time as a commissioner. 

While Commissioner Lashely is not running for re-election, his son is and that can only mean that he carries the same dangerous ideologies. Commissioner Lashley is unfit to serve the remainder of his term. To end his career as a commissioner with retirement is too good, he must resign. The sole problem doesn't fall on just Commissioner Lashley but it is also the responsibility of the other commissioners who enable and allow this disturbing behavior.
