Hard to believe that nearly 3 months into this discussion, we still do not have a clear proposal of what the specific intentions are for the proposed commercial use of Strawberry Fields. They keep changing. So, we can only wonder and piece together information for you. Here's some Tour Bus Math a citizen did which might be of interest: Assuming they want to build a 100 seat outdoor entertainment venue for weddings, fundraisers and private parties along with pony rides and a pole barn, let's say they book 3 events per day. Assume each event requires 2 dozen staff people (set-up, catering, wait staff, bar staff, pony operators, etc...clean up). That's about 400 people per day. Assume the Grayline Tour buses, owned by Chuck Murphy, hold about 10 people, that's 80-100 NEW shuttle runs per day down Penrose and down Mesa into South Cheyenne Canon - a land locked area with small two lane roads already brimming with traffic and now worsened by closed parking areas which means more people will be driving around endlessly in search of parking. Here's more to think about. What about light pollution? Music -- what great weddings don't have a good, roaring band? Alcohol? Probably - it's a big money maker at weddings/private parties. This is a for profit business, and as a quote from the 2009 Politico articles states, Anschutz, rightly so and why he's been so wildly successful, is all about profit: Those who work with Anschutz say he has the same objective in everything he does — a profit. “There’s an expectation that all our assets will be good enterprises and profitable,” said Ryan McKibben, chief executive of Clarity Media Group, part of Anschutz’s empire that oversees his media companies. “There’s no charity involved.“ This also makes it hard to reconcile any statements made regarding the intent to simply conserve land. This isn't the objective of for profit entities. They exist to maximize returns on assets -- as they should. Nothing wrong with profits -- they are critical to a thriving economy, but conserving land, especially for environmental/wildlife reasons, is, by definition, at odds with profit seeking activities.
