The issue

I'm a proud Yamatji man deeply passionate about using Australian native ingredients in my cooking. But it is unbelievably hard for me to find or even afford Native Australian ingredients to cook my traditional foods.

I'm calling on the big Supermarkets to stock Native Australian ingredients and herbs like kakadu plums, lemon myrtle, bush tomatoes, salt bush, Warragul greens and so many others.

I love how food brings people together and create memories. There is a unique opportunity for Australians to connect with Aboriginal history and culture through traditional food, with a modern twist. All we need is our supermarkets to stock these basic ingredients.

In my stint as a participant on My Kitchen Rules, I used Native ingredients for most of my recipes and since then I've been flooded with requests about where to get them from.

The big Supermarkets have Asian, Mexican, English aisles but they don’t stock our incredible Native Australian ingredients! WHY! They are literally grown on our door step.

This would be an incredible opportunity to celebrate our home grown Native Ingredients, showcase our amazing Indigenous culture, provide jobs and most importantly confirm that Australian cuisine is Traditional Aboriginal Food.

It’s time to celebrate Native Foods - please sign and share the petition if you agree.
