Codify Roe v Wade into federal law

The Issue

My deep belief in the importance of reproductive healthcare and bodily autonomy for women across our nation has compelled me to speak up. Every woman, regardless of where she resides, should have the unalienable right to make decisions about her own body without interference. Codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law would ensure that women have consistent and equal access to reproductive healthcare and maintain bodily autonomy throughout the United States.

The landmark decision of Roe v. Wade in 1973 provided a critical legal foundation for women's reproductive rights, recognizing a woman's right to privacy in making personal medical decisions. However, recent years have seen significant challenges and setbacks, threatening to erode these fundamental rights. We cannot stand by while access to reproductive healthcare is restricted, endangering the health and freedom of millions of women.

By codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law, we can protect reproductive rights from political and judicial pendulum swings. This codification would establish a federal guarantee, overriding varying state laws, and ensuring that all women have the same access to care, regardless of political changes or state-specific legislation. This is not just a legal necessity, but a moral imperative that reflects the values of freedom and autonomy.

Numerous polls have shown that a majority of Americans support Roe v. Wade and believe in upholding women's right to choose. According to a 2021 Pew Research Center poll, 59% of U.S. adults believe abortion should be legal in all or most cases. This bipartisan support underscores the need for federal action to protect these rights permanently.

We respectfully urge our lawmakers to take decisive action to protect women's rights by enshrining the principles of Roe v. Wade into federal law. Ensuring reproductive health care and bodily autonomy for all American women should be non-negotiable. Rally with us in this crucial effort – your voice can make an impactful difference.

Please sign this petition to show your support for a future where women have guaranteed and equitable access to reproductive healthcare nationwide. Our voices together can drive the necessary change to protect women's rights for generations to come.
