The Issue

My name is Ladonice Bullock, and I am the girlfriend of Shomar Henriques, the grandson of Aston Lacruise. Today, I write with both pride and purpose on behalf of the Henriques and Lacruise families and the countless community members who cherished and respected Aston, lovingly known around our neighborhood as "Pops." We are asking for the corner of Utica Avenue and Church Avenue in Brooklyn, NY 11203 to be co-named in his honor.

Aston's life was a testament to the power of community, unity, and contribution. In an area renowned for its rich diversity and cultural tapestry, Pops was a pillar of strength and support, an individual always ready to lend a hand or offer wise counsel. His contributions to the community ranged from helping young people find their paths in life to organizing events that brought people together, celebrating our shared history and diversity.

The corner of Utica and Church Avenues isn't just a junction in Brooklyn; it's a cornerstone in the lives of those who knew and loved Pops. For over 30 years, he walked these streets, shared stories, and built bridges between neighbors. He reminded us of the value of connectiveness and our collective strength.

Pops played a pivotal role in countless initiatives that benefited the whole community, including youth mentorship programs, charity drives, and festive celebrations that brought joy and unity to the neighborhood. His legacy is an example for all of us, embodying the kind of positivity and commitment that fosters real and lasting change.

Co-naming this intersection in tribute to Aston Lacruise would serve not only as a lasting memorial but as a continuous source of inspiration for all who pass by. This designation would honor his spirit and continue his mission of community building far beyond his own lifetime.

We believe this commemoration will remind new generations of the importance of unity, dedication, and the value of every community member.

Please join us in honoring Aston "Pops" Lacruise by signing this petition to co-name the corner of Utica Avenue and Church Avenue in his memory. Let's ensure his legacy continues to shine and guide future generations.
