A un año de la desaparición forzada de Ricardo Arturo Lagunes Gasca y Antonio Díaz Valencia, defensores incansables de derechos humanos en México, la falta de respuestas y acciones concretas para encontrarlos sigue siendo alarmante. Su desaparición fue catalogada como emblemática por el Comité contra la Desaparición Forzada de la ONU (CED) y es representativa del contexto de violencia contra defensores en México.
A pesar de las acciones internacionales del CED, los Procedimientos Especiales de la ONU y la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (CIDH), la investigación y la búsqueda no han cumplido con las expectativas. No los encontraron. El llamado a establecer un Mecanismo Internacional de Recuperación Humanitaria para Antonio y Ricardo se ha truncado tras cambios en las instituciones gubernamentales. Las investigaciones, con solo dos detenciones actuales, revelan irregularidades y posible complicidad de servidores públicos.
La respuesta solidaria nacional e internacional es fuerte pero insuficiente. No solo México debe reaccionar! La persistente indiferencia de actores con intereses económicos y la aceleración de acuerdos con la empresa Ternium, que opera la mina en Aquila, por parte de las autoridades gubernamentales y comunitarias, es motivo de preocupación.
Suma tu firma para exigir al Presidente de la República, a la Comisión Nacional de Búsqueda, la Fiscalía General de la República, la Subsecretaría de Derechos Humanos, y a las autoridades locales de Colima y Michoacán que usen todos los mecanismos a su alcance para hallar a Ricardo y Antonio, investiguen a fondo y sancionen a todos los responsables. A un año de su desaparición, la verdad y la justicia apremian.

One Year After the Forced Disappearance of Ricardo Arturo Lagunes Gasca and Antonio Díaz Valencia, tireless human rights defenders in Mexico, the lack of answers and concrete actions to find them remains alarming. Their disappearance was deemed emblematic by the United Nations Committee against Forced Disappearance (CED) and is representative of the violence against defenders in Mexico.
Despite international actions by the CED, UN Special Procedures, and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (CIDH), the investigation and search have fallen short of expectations. They did not find them. The call to establish an International Mechanism for Humanitarian Recovery for Antonio and Ricardo has been thwarted by changes in government institutions. Investigations, with only two current detentions, reveal irregularities and possible complicity of public officials.
The national and international solidarity response is strong but insufficient. Not only Mexico must react! The ongoing indifference of individuals with economic interests and the expedited agreements with Ternium, the company overseeing the mine in Aquila, by both government and community authorities, is cause for concern.
Add your signature to demand from the President of the Republic, the National Search Commission, the Attorney General's Office, the Undersecretary of Human Rights, and local authorities in Colima and Michoacán to use all available mechanisms to find Ricardo and Antonio, conduct a thorough investigation, and sanction all those responsible. One year after their disappearance, truth and justice are urgent.
To their captors, whether state authorities or individuals acting with their acquiescence, collaboration, or tolerance, we vehemently reiterate the request to return them!
