The four year old Aarey struggle goes into its fifth year. While the support and response our trees and the creatures that survive on them have received is mind boggling, we have come a long way in preserving the pristine lungs of Mumbai.
The courts are listening to us, the people have come in full support; sent in pictures, attended our events, made rangolis, songs, dances and some great street action too.
We are now a tightly knit community of over 5-10 lakh Indians, who will do everything it takes to save Aarey. With support from common man, artists, celebrities, some activists as well as politicians, this movement has survived far too long than anything else in an urban set up.
However, now we have taken a big strategic initiative. JICA, the funding body of the Mumbai Metro 3 project claims to conform to strict environmental guidelines before funding any project. Through this petition in Japanese, we want to draw attention of JICA towards the gross destruction of environmental balance by MMRC in their plan to construct Metro carshed in Aarey forest.
We want JICA to suggest MMRC to shift the car shed. JICA has shown where it stands while halting the bullet train project. By linking this petition to the Japanese petition, we are making our petition stronger & louder.
