15 Jan 2018
On Sunday 14th January, by running/walking/cycling and totally enjoying this luxuriant forest in the middle of the city, Mumbaikars had only one thing to say, #SaveAareyForest While entire Mumbai is facing issues of congestion, an oasis of tranquility and peace in the middle of the concrete jungle Aarey gives fresh air and purifies air of the entire Maximum City. More than 120 people came to Aarey on a Sunday morning to support the three year old Save Aarey movement. Some of them for the first time! Everyone expressed the joy of having such a natural forest with amazing biodiversity supporting a rich ecosystem with a large variety of flora and fauna in their midst. Also, Mumbai citizens really want Aarey to remain as it is as its the last surviving green patch of the city and its green sponge, regulating the flooding. They expressed a strong desire to support Save Aarey movement in peaceful ways. They hugged the trees #ChipkoRe and dont want a single tree to be cut and want this unique ecosystem to remain untouched. Yes, we are truly blessed to have such a unique ecosystem that noone in world has and want it to be preserved for future generations. The event, hosted by Mumbai Road Runners and co-hosted by Aarey Tigers and wholly supported by the citizens of Mumbai. Cyclists too came out in large numbers. The ACG team who are at forefront of Save Aarey movement also came to run/walk/cycle. We thank all Mumbaikars for showing how much you love Aarey and how much you want to save every inch of this heaven, the only urban biodiversity forest in world, while the matter is continuously being heard in the National Green Tribunal and Mumbai High Court, please make your voice heard by sharing this petition, tweeting to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and PM Narendra Modi. Thank you all from heart.
