Princes Place Toilets - adjacent to the Brighton Pavilion Gardens

The Issue

Please sign and share but do not contribute any money. This is about sending a message to those responsible for the toilets and not about raising money.

This petition is based on a petition lodged on Brighton & Hove City Council Website. A link will be posted here when the Council make it available for signing. Please sign this petition to get things going.

Statement:

We the undersigned petition Brighton & Hove Council to Re-open and maintain, to a reasonable standard, the Princes Place toilets adjacent to Pavilion Gardens

Justification:

Brighton and Hove City Council has announced winter closures of the toilets from now until the 7th April 2023.

The reasons stated are to 'effectively manage the public toilet budget' and because of 'lack of staff'.

This should be raised at the Council meeting on the 20th October.

The Pavilion Gardens is an important resource for the local community and not just a tourist attraction for summer visitors. Many older and restricted mobility residents visit the garden on a regular basis and will find it difficult to do so if there are no toilet facilities.

The only alternatives for visitors to the gardens is to use the toilets in the the museum, for local residents, or to walk to the Jubilee library. This is not practical for many people.

I live locally and have been a regular user of the Pavilion Gardens for over 40 years. I rely on a mobility scooter. Without suitable toilet facilities, I am no longer able to visit the gardens, which are a very special place for me.
