Close the RTE Loophole – Include All Private Schools
The Issue
I have lived the reality of educational inequality !
Growing up in a modest household, I saw how English fluency and access to quality education can change a child’s entire future.
While students in private unaided schools like CBSE and international institutions enjoy abundant resources, global exposure, and extracurricular opportunities, countless others from BC, SC, ST, and minority communities are left behind because of unaffordable fees and exclusionary policies.
This is not just an education problem. It is an issue of equal opportunity, dignity, and justice.
Even though the Right to Education Act (RTE) already provides 25% seats for economically weaker students, many private unaided CBSE and international schools including trust-run and minority-run institutions are exempt from this mandate.
As a result, talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds are denied entry to elite schools purely due to economic barriers.
The Solution We Demand
Under Article 15(4) and Article 21A of the Constitution, the government has the power to take special measures for disadvantaged groups.
It is time to extend these protections to all private CBSE and international schools, without exemptions.
We call for:
✅ Reservation quotas for BC, SC, ST, and minority students in all private CBSE & international schools (including trust-run/minority-run)
✅ Mandatory fee subsidies or government-funded scholarships for deserving students
✅ Extension of RTE and minority welfare schemes to every private unaided school in Tamil Nadu and India
Inclusive classrooms where children from all social and economic backgrounds learn together build stronger minds, foster unity, and uplift entire communities.
Call to Action
Sign this petition to urge the Tamil Nadu Government and the Ministry of Education (Government of India) to:
- End exemptions that keep poor and minority children out of top private schools.
- Make quality education a right for all, not a privilege for a few
Together, we can ensure that no child is denied a future because of the school they couldn’t afford.
