To: Attorney General of Canada, Provincial Ministers of Justice, and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police

Every day, people with active arrest warrants are able to move to another province and continue living their lives as if nothing happened. This is unfair to victims, dangerous to communities, and undermines trust in our justice system.

When someone has an outstanding warrant, they should be required to face the courts — not given an opportunity to flee across provincial lines and avoid accountability. Right now, the lack of enforcement and coordination between provinces leaves a loophole that allows fugitives to slip through the cracks.

We, the undersigned, demand that:

Stronger inter-provincial coordination and enforcement be put in place to ensure arrest warrants are honored across all provinces and territories.
Individuals with active warrants be located and required to appear before the courts without delay. ( in any province)  Victims and communities should be  prioritized over the convenience of offenders who choose to run.  Justice should not stop at a provincial borders. Canadians deserve a system that ensures accountability and safety everywhere in our country.

There are  many fugitives who are living in other provinces which is not published information by police/ court system — which hides the scope of the issue.

Please take action now to close this loophole and make sure fugitives face justice.
