Close the Canadian borders to every immigrant

Close the Canadian borders to every immigrant
The Issue
I grew up in the beautiful country of Canada, a place known for its kindness and diversity. Yet, as I walk through the streets of our once quieter neighborhoods, I see more and more faces that are unfamiliar to me, and sometimes I don’t hear the familiar Canadian accent as much anymore. This isn’t about fear or intolerance—Canada has always welcomed those who seek refuge or a new home. However, I’m concerned that our identity is being overshadowed by an influx that seems uncontrollable.
Every year, Canada welcomes thousands of immigrants from around the globe, predominantly from the Philippines, India, and other countries. While there is undoubted benefit in a diverse cultural tapestry, the rate at which our population is changing could risk diluting the core of what it means to be Canadian. Our cultural traditions, values, and even the chance for native Canadians to thrive could be hampered if we don’t consider soon those changes seriously. I believe it’s essential to have a fair balance and ensure that the new Canadian population can surpass the influx of newcomers.
To address this, I propose Canada temporarily close its borders to immigrants coming to live or work until the new Canadian population is able to surpass 50,000 per year and maintain that level for three consecutive years. This gives us the time we need to ensure that our national identity remains strong and sustainable while also allowing the current immigrant populations ample opportunity to adjust and integrate into Canadian society more effectively.
Let's take a stand to protect our cultural heritage, values, and ensure opportunities for native Canadians are preserved. This isn’t about turning our backs on the world; it’s about allowing us space and time to manage the growth responsibly. I'm calling on the Canadian government and policymakers to consider the future of our nation and close the borders until we achieve this population balance.
I urge you to sign this petition for a Canada that remains distinct yet open-minded, where heritage is preserved, and balanced growth is prioritized. Let's ensure a prosperous future for every Canadian resident. Please sign this petition to urge our leaders to take the necessary actions now.
