The Issue
I've had a distressing experience with Dwyers of Cork, and it's time to shed light on the alarming situation there. I was banned from the premises for no legitimate reason; the security personnel accused me of intoxication even when I hadn't consumed alcohol. This is not an isolated incident—many patrons are being banned without cause. The security team, particularly an individual named Anthony Meehan, frequently exhibit abusive behavior, seemingly on a power trip. They have caused altercations inside the venue instead of ensuring the safety of its patrons.
The situation is exacerbated by the management led by Ryan Carroll, whose behavior is equally reprehensible.
On TripAdvisor, most of the recent reviews are all negative. Please see the reviews there; they are concerning! Someone even said the manager used derogatory language, such as calling him a 'faggot'. This kind of conduct is appalling and far from what a safe and welcoming environment should entail. Due to these factors, several individuals have chosen to frequent other establishments, deeming Dwyers of Cork as unsafe and chaotic. (And I would encourage people to put your money in other bars)
The community deserves a space where they can enjoy themselves without fear of unjust treatments or hostility. A bar should be a place where people come together, not a venue where clients are abused and disrespected. It's crucial to advocate for either a total shutdown of this establishment or a thorough overhaul of its management team. Not just to make it safer; but to also let people who were banned before be let in again. The venue is beautiful inside, but it's these people who run it that make it worse for everyone.
We keep complaining that the nightlife in Cork is gone: this is ONE of the main reasons why.
We must ensure the safety and dignity of everyone who wishes to enjoy a night out in Cork. Sign this petition to demand the closure of Dwyers of Cork or the removal and replacement of its current management team. Together, we can call for a safer and more respectful nightlife experience for our community.
At the same time, again as said before: please put your money into other bars. This bar doesn't even match the beauty of all the other ones.
