OBJECTION TO BRENT ACTIVE TRAVEL PROGRAMME PM29 IN GRASMERE AVENUE
The Issue
The residents of Grasmere Avenue strongly object to the Council’s imposed road closure on Grasmere Avenue and would request the removal of the road markings and road furniture as a matter of urgency.
Why?
1. There will be health and safety risks to persons and children walking on the pavements from vehicles turning around within a narrow road. There will also be risks to damaging parked cars as well as property with vehicles pulling into driveways to turn around.
2. Disruption to businesses delivering goods and services to the residence.
3. Increase pollution of surrounding roads as drivers take alternative routes.
4. Increase delay in residence going to work or taking their children to school.
5. Insufficient consultation period – cannot use Covid 19 as an excuse as we have been in a health emergency since March 2020 but have only been notified in August 2020.
6. Leaflet posted to residence does not reflect what is actually happening to signage on the streets.
7. Delays will occur for medical emergency services which could result in fatalities, and to police services for quick response to crime because of the time to stop and unlock/lock the barrier.
8. Inconvenience residents going about their daily lives.
9. Loss of car parking spaces as a result of double yellow line
10. Create a bottleneck at the top of Grasmere onto Preston road for those that want to go towards Harrow/Kenton and are not able to cross the no-entry point to get there.
