Hi everybody. Since the public consultation meeting, conversations across the area have been uplifting, if that is not too pretentious a word, as the enormity of the amazing turnout that night hit home, so thanks to everybody. But we have not finished yet, we have just 14 days to respond to the consultation documents issued by Powys County Council and the Campaign team are putting together a substantial response as are the school and governors. It is however important that as many individuals write too because the exercise is about individual children and our communities needs and the more letters the better. Don't leave it to just one family member to write all have a go. Over 1000 people came to the consultation meeting wouldn't it be wonderful if 1000 letters were sent. If you are going to write: 1, for it to be taken seriously set out how the plan to close Gernyfed and move pupils to Brecon will effect you. 2 Ask a question or multiple questions on the detail of the consultation document or the legal right to carry through the plan 3. Send it by email to consultation @ors.org.uk or by post to Opinion Research Services FREEPOST (SS1018), PO Box 530, Swansea, S1 1ZLA (this is the organisation commissioned by Powys to collate the response) 4. THE CLOSING DATE for responses is 5pm on 23 May 2016.. I suspect all those who were at the meeting have their favourite story about it. Mine is the Gwernyfed student who asked if the LA could promise that her younger siblings would have the same quality of education or better in Brecon. Ian Roberts who is the lead education officer said "I always have difficulty defining the word promise" and then waffled. When the chair asked the student if she was satisfied with the answer she relied "Not really it was rather slippery". I propose that from here on we refer to Ian Roberts as "slippery roberts". Much more seriously I gather the staff were buoyed by the 1000 people coming to support the school and to ask such significant questions. So thank you all those who came. The fight goes on.
